Summery
In the second part of my reading this book everything starts taking a turn for the worst. One day the Germans come to get Jews and they have all Jews in one small part of a train. There is no room, it is packed full. They don't have a lot of food or water, and it smells bad in there. there is a lady who was separated from her family and keeps yelling "fire, look at that fire, look at those flames!" and she points in one direction. Nobody sees any fire but when they arrive at the camp she yells it again and like usual everybody rushes to see, they see the flames and is smells so bad. They are smelling burning human flesh.

Summery
In the third part of my reading the boy and his dad are separated from their mom and sister. They are put into lined and Nazis keep calling then SOB. After they are don't talking they ask the boy and father how old they are and they tell them 15 and 50, Nazis tell then they aren't that age they are 18 and 40. As they watch the flames they move forward and they boy counts down steps into the pit of flames, he watches children being thrown into the flames and remembers everything that happened. He says goodbye to everything and everyone inside of his head and he prays to himself.

Summery
In my fourth part of reading the dad and son are told to strip down just like everybody else there. They are to keep their belt and shoes though. Then they are taken to barrack, still naked. Then another and another. Later they are told to shower, get new clothes, not theirs, and go stand in the mud. As they stand there they watch some prisoners work. Nobody is speaking.

In the fifth part of my reading the dad and son find out that they are in a concentration camp, Auschwitz. The SS officers tell everybody that there are the camp you are to work, and if you don't work you will to straight to the chimney, the crematorium. They are told the choice is theirs, work or crematorium. When the boys dad got up and asked where they toilets are located, the Gypsy stared at him and then slapped him to the ground. They remain in Auschwitz for weeks trying to avoid transports, but the boy is becoming weaker and weaker everyday.

6th entry Pg.45-52 Summery In the 6th part of my reading everybody is singing to try and stay calm. One man speaks of God and his mysterious ways. The son and dad think about mother and his little sister. They wish that they could believe that they both were still alive. One day the boy is called to the dentist after dinner. When he gets there he finds out it is because he has a gold crown and the officers want it. He lies and says he doesnt feel good, he gets out of it.

Summery
In the 7th part of my reading the boy works next to a young French girl. He says how she doesnt look Jewish, she looks "Aryan". One day the boy crossed paths with Idek and this guy beats him until he is covered with blood. The boy doesnt know why it happened so he goes and sits in the corner in pain, he feels something wiping his forehead and it is the French girl wiping off the blood. Later the same guy beats his dad with an iron bar. Idek sees the boy's gold crown one day and he wants it. He gets the crown pulled later for no reason.

Summery
A half hour before it was time to stop working for the day a man came to stop everybody. He called out "A-7713 and it was the boy. He had somebody bring out a crate and he told the boy to lay down on it, now all he could feel was being whipped. The man whipped in 25 times. The boy hadnt realized he had stopped because he had fainted but he was brought to by cold water being splashed in his face. After he found out it was because he saw Idek trying to do stuff with the French girl. At 10:00 there was an alarm that went off. Everybody except the SS had to gather in the blocks, the SS took refuge inside. Where they were there were 2 cauldrons of soup. Nobody dared to go and eat out of it but one guy that did. When he put his head in the soup he was shot. With in a couple of minuets they all found out they were being bombed. Later that day when everything was over a strong looking teenager was hung and the the next day two other men and one boy were hung. One man kept asking "Where is God?"

In this part of my reading summer is coming to and end. The boy is asking where God is and men are coming to participate in a solemn service. The service of Death. The men say blessed God's mane and the boy asks himself why. He accused God for everything that is going on. When the service is over the boy runs over to his dad and kissed him on the hand. Then the bell for bed rings.

4/14/11 Summery It was the day of Atonement. People were wondering if they should fast, the boy's dad forbid him to fast because he needed all of the food he could get. So he ate his ration of soup and his daily bread. Later they smelled something wrong in the air, plus roll call was shorter and food was served faster. A man told everybody about how good they have it there, compared to years ago. The boy asked them to be quiet. They just laughed.

11th entry 4/19/11 Summery An SS officer had walked into tell the men what was about to take place. A selection. First they must get fully undressed for a check by a doctor. The officer said it might be a good idea for them to try and give themselves color by pinching themselves. Then they started, Dr. Mengele was examining all of the men. After the boy went past Mengele he asked these two other guys if his number was written down. It wasn't. After the officers left the boy met up with his dad. They both passes. They dad gave the boy a half ration of bread and then the bell rang. Time for bed. After that day food rations got smaller. In the morning of another day the got up and ate their food and the an officer came running and read off some numbers. Those people that belonged to those numbers were to stay at their camp. Out of nowhere the boy's dad came and told the boy the had called his number and they had written down his number with him noticing. The dad gives the boy a spoon and a knife, then the boy has to go and march.

Summery The boy was scared about loosing his dad after the selection. This other man had become very week and started speaking of God and how he isnt here anymore. He had lost hope and was picked in then next selection. He was gone. Winter came and everybody got a pair of a little bit heavier clothes. Work got harder and the boy was now in the infirmary. His foot was so swollen from then cold he couldn't walk on it, it had to be operated on. After the operation was over he was told that it would be 2 weeks and then he would be able to walk again. Evacuation was to take place before Russians come. The boy was still in the infirmary and people in it were to stay. All the boy could think about was getting separated from his father. Elie and his father got together and the boy decided he was going to go with on the march.

So he stayed awake with his dad.

After a while they all had blankets on their backs and were waiting for the train. They all got one small ration of bread and they were eating snow off of each others backs because they were so thirsty. They had to stand and wait hours and hours for the train, the whole time they were waiting it was snowing. Elie couldn't feel his foot, he said that is is probably frozen. When the train finally arrives they are all packed into it tight. There is a selection on the train so they stop. People volunteer to throw the dead off. Elie's dad falls asleep and one man comes to get him to throw him off. Elie hits his dad so hard that he finally wakes up. Sometimes they went past German cities and people throw bread on the train to watch the Jews fight for it. When one person got the bread so many other people tackled that one person and a couple people die every time.

During the last few days in the wagon wind had blew like crazy. Then they arrived at a new camp, Buchenwald. By now Elie's dad was very weak and he just wanted to give up. His dad had been in the sick room for days and one day he received a blow to the head, later he died. After that one day it was time for roll call and SS were late when they got there they told everybody that there is going to be no more food given and there was going to be mass evacuation, everybody was going to be killed. Then sirens rang and Americans came to save Jews in the camp. Afterward Elie became very ill and was sent to a hospital. When he was able to get up he looked in the mirror, it was the first time he had seen himself since the ghettos.
